Spaces for Kids
Cheryl Corson is a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI), trained by the National Recreation and Park Association to conduct audits and periodic inspections for public playgrounds. She provides clients with detailed drawings and a confidential report showing how their space compares with existing national standards and guidelines and where improvements can be made.
As a licensed landscape architect, Cheryl also designs childrens' outdoor play environments. She feels children are sustained by a deep connection to the natural world. They need ample opportunities to run, jump, and play, and can often better absorb academic subjects in natural settings. Cheryl designs outdoor kids' spaces providing this balance.
Cheryl Corson also serves as an expert witness in legal cases involving playgrounds.
She is a member of the ASLA Children's Outdoor Environments professional practice network, and serves on the Maryland Partnership for Children in Nature, Nature Play Spaces workgroup.
