Cheryl Corson Design L.L.C.

“What a match: Cheryl and our Master Plan! A Master Plan for a town home community is not a simple project, yet Cheryl checked all the boxes and we are on a sound path for decades into the future. Cheryl addressed input from residents, neighborhood appearance, maintenance concerns, sustainability, current and future budgets, and provided an excellent final report, with communication at every step."

  • From 20 year old paper plans, an accurate electronic drawing was created, identifying and measuring steep slopes, impervious surfaces, trees, and other site amenities.

  • This slide was shown during the community design workshop to show the watershed in which Pine Valley is located.

  • During the community design workshop, residents from different blocks share their concerns, using a site plan as a tool.

  • Done in Vectorworks software, the drawing can easily quantify areas of impervious surface. Property lines are precisely drawn.

  • Prioritized areas of concern are shown on a separate drawing with detailed notes.

  • A monoculture of overgrown cherry trees are pushing up walkways and will be replaced with smaller, ornamental native trees.

  • Notes show 'hot spots' and establish priorities.

  • A sample page from a book created for residents to illustrate native plants suitable for town home gardens.

  • Design templates created for residents for front gardens suitable for different levels of garden interest.

This 20 year old townhouse development is on 12 acres sloping down to a tributary of the Magothy River near Annapolis. Storm water infrastructure needed re-thinking and updating to reflect today's efforts to limit pollutants and sedimentation entering the Chesapeake Bay. Residents had other concerns, which were addressed in a suvey, community workshop, and a landscape plan and extensive report. Research was also done to identify sources of grant and matching funds to execute the project.
